Felix Baumgartner, 43, from Austria has the first person to fall faster than the speed of sound – than 1,000 kilometres hour. He jumped from a capsule over 39km above the Earth. The project told Baumgartner before he leapt: "Start the cameras, and our guardian will take care of you." The skydiver : "I know the whole world is watching now. I you could see what I can see. Sometimes you have to be really high to understand how you are."

It took Baumgartner ten minutes to the ground. His speed was 1,342kph. After the Austrian , he fell to his , raised his and waited for the helicopter to take him back to his team. He told reporters at a press conference: "When I was standing there on of the world, you become so humble. You don't think about breaking …the only thing that you want is to come back ." In 2003, Baumgartner glided the English Channel from England to France under a carbon fibre .
