Global demand for streaming music has increased. Sales went up by 40 per cent, which it is the fastest-growing of music sales. Music downloads went up by 8.5 per cent this year, CD and record sales have dropped 12 per cent. Physical CDs and vinyl records are the most popular way of music. They make up for over 60 per cent of the music we buy. However, it seems that CD and record sales will continue to decrease. Total spending on music by 2.6% globally this year.

A music industry , Ed Barton, believes streamed music services like Spotify and Pandora may become more than downloads from iTunes. He said: "Although downloads still account nearly 80 per cent of online music revenues…streaming music… will be the growth drivers the next five years.” Mr Barton said streamed music will at four times the rate downloads - 27.8 per cent compared 6.7 per cent. He added that cloud storage services are helping growth.
