Many of Australia’s koalas are at risk and to be protected. The country’s spokesman the environment Tony Burke told reporters that he would koala populations in the states of Queensland and New South Wales, and in around the capital Canberra. Koala are very happy this new decision. A koala expert, Professor Alistair Melzer, said it was “a big forward”. However, he believes the country needs to do to help koalas from attacks dogs and being hit by cars.

Mr Burke said his decision to the koala was because of a three-year study that at koala numbers and the dangers they . He explained “People have made it very to me that they want to make the koala is protected for generations.” He said his actions might not be enough to the koalas. He added: “Koala numbers vary significantly the country, so while koala populations are clearly declining in some areas, there are large, stable or even increasing populations in areas.”
