Hindus around the world have celebrating the festival of Diwali, or the "festival of " in English. The celebration is one of the important in the Hindu calendar. People celebrate buying gold, eating special sweets and letting firecrackers. Indian government spokesman Prithviraj Chavan citizens to cut on noise pollution by not burning crackers.
